History

Established on 9th September 1982 and registered as Society under Hong Kong law in the year 1991. Shaheen Sports Club joined the Hong Kong Hockey Association (HKHA) 1982-83 winter hockey league and won the Omega Rosebowl, Runners-up of the 1st Division and Winner of the Holland Cup in the same season. In the following season (1983-84), Shaheen again proved to be one of the best team in Hong Kong hockey by winning 5 major trophies, which included Rothmans Cup, Guru-Nanak Cup, Christmas Mixed Cup, 1st Division Championship and the Holland Cup.

Over the past 20 years, Shaheen had won 14 times 1st Division Champion, 8 times Holland Cup winner (6 times were ‘The Doubles’) and won over 20 major titles, which include some one-day tournaments.

Hong Kong Caps

Since 1982, Shaheen has at least 4 hockey players every year selected to represent Hong Kong to play in various international hockey events which included Asian Games, East Asian Games, All-China Games, Asian Hockey Federation Cup, Hong Kong-Macau Interport.  Shaheen maintains a very high standard of hockey training, which included fitness, skills, game reading, teamwork, strength & conditioning and it proved that our training was one of the best in Hong Kong.

International Result

Shaheen possess a distinctive record in a number of international game played over the period of 25 years. Two games were particularly worth mentioning, the 1983 encounter with the China National Youth team in Hong Kong that ended 1-1 draw and the 1987 tussled with Stuttgart, West Germany, which also ended with a draw, this time 2-2. Shaheen also won the Macau International Invitation Tournament competed by teams from Japan, China, Hong Kong and host Macau.

Champion in Taiwan International Invitation Tournament completed by teams from Taiwan and Hong Kong in the year 1987.

Since the establishment of Shaheen, we had the following contribution to both local and international hockey:

Future Development

Shaheen started a Shaheen ‘B’ men’s team and four ladies team namely Shaheen Ladies.

We will also introduce two grass-root hockeys namely Shaheen Mini-Hockey Team and Shaheen Youth Team. The Mini’s which will serve the age between 6-12 years old whereas they will promote to Youth when they reach the age of 12 or above.

Since over five teams for development, we do need quite number of coaches or assistant to run the program. We will be starting our internal coaching system, which included Level 0 to Level 3. This can also help us in developing players in different aspect such as coaching. We will also develop management staff to assisting the smooth of running the entire program.
